United Nations of Ju-jitsu in Gibraltar

A robust Bushido team attended the United Nations Ju-jitsu Championships in Gibraltar and came home with many medals. Competing on a world stage talent showed through.

Travelling from around the country Team Bushido represented the British Ju-jitsu Association nation team at the event hosted by Gibraltar Ju-jitsu academy who is also a Bushido club. Sensei Anthony Joaquin 7th Dan planned the event down to the smallest detail and what a show he put on.

Over three days, Team GB gathered at a reception to pick up their itinerary and passes for the weekend’s competition. Saturday saw the opening ceremony with team GB the biggest team at the event.  Other nations attending were, team Germany, team Italy, team South Africa, team Ireland, team Norway, team Morocco, team Finland, team America and not forgetting team Gibraltar.

Saturday’s proceedings went with open hand kata, Weapon katas & random attacks. Sunday saw the more physical side of ju-jitsu with Sparring, Groundfighting & continuous fighting. The finale of the weekend’s entertainment was the demonstrations

A brilliant weekend of competing and demonstrations of some of the highest ju-jitsu skills with some of the world’s highest graded instructors & talented ju-jitsu athletes.

We are looking forward to 2020 to the next United Nations Championships which will be held in 2020 in Valencia, Spain.”
